A "Kiwi Berry Tart" for your sweetheart

"Kiwi Berry Tart", 1  1/8" x 1  1/8", egg tempera on vellum,
$50 + $5 shipping (see 3/21/09 sale to purchase)

More on Aretha next, but one of my colleagues, Ed, wanted to see me do some miniature paintings of pastries from my favorite local bakery, Brooklyn Bread, so here is a "Kiwi Berry Tart" for someone's lucky sweetheart!  Mmmmm.........

This looks delicious!!! I can almost taste it. The kiwi looks so juicy..... I may have to go get one or two later...
This painting blows me away. The tart is smaller than a penny and has so much details. What kind of brushes do you use? Do you make your own?

Thank you Akiko. I feel the same way about your delightful paintings!

Thanks too for your question about my brushes. I have not heard of anyone making their own. Do you?

I'll share some brush information with everyone in one of my posts next week, but for this tart miniature I used three round pointed brushes: Utrecht triple zero sable series 221, Windsor Newton triple zero Series 7 Miniature sable, and Silver Ultra Mini 20/0 synthetic.

Mona thanks for sharing the info. I'm not familiar with Utrecht or Windsor Newton Series 7, but have one Silver Ultra Mini 12/0 Comb. Looking forward to more info next week. :)

Oh my goodness, Mona!

I don't think people realize how impossible this painting should be.

It is ridiculously small. I have no idea how you drew this let alone painted it.

You must have super tiny brushes and a large magnifying glass!

Great job on this little guy!
