"The Piano Recital---It's Mary's Turn," art and image © Mona Diane Conner 2009
5 1/2" x 4 1/4" egg tempera miniature on gessoed panel, (Sold)

The five entries I have submitted to the Miniature Art Society of Florida 35th annual miniature show at Leepa Rattner Museum of Art in Tarpon Springs (January 17 - February 7) include "The Piano Recital---It's Mary's Turn," shown above in it's final form. This portrait of Mary has sold, pre-show, to her parents, but they are allowing it to go into show competition this year, prior to receiving it, and I am grateful for their support.

More on the rest of my entries for the Florida show later this week.

She is so precious Mona! You did a great job capturing her attentiveness to the keys. You have developed a very nice style with your work. I look forward to seeing Mary "in person" at the MASF show next January.

I think this might be my favorite piece of yours, Mona. The composition, the light in her hair, the pattern of the dress and folds in the fabric, the reflections in the piano... it's beyond stunning!

My favourite too Mona - it has to be a winner - can't wait to hear updates on how it goes in exhibitions!!! You had better not sell it too early and miss out on opportunities to win awards, it truly is delightful!!!

Mona, I'm so glad this will be at the MASF show! I can't wait to see this piece in person. I will call you in a few weeks, and maybe I can arrange to see you in person too!

Forgive me for being slow to respond, I'm still tapped out over the last details of shipping my paintings out last week, so I've been resting, but thanks to everyone for your kind comments. It's really wonderful to hear such great things about this piece, and I appreciate it so much!

Mona, it's been so great watching this one develop. I too count this as one of my favorites. You have captured the innocence of a child in deep concentration. The skin tones, the composition, I could go on....! The best to you at MASF.

Thanks so much Barbara, and likewise, best wishes with the MASF show!
