progress on portrait drawings

Here is a detail from a 10" x 8" drawing I'm working on of Corin's sister Ona.

Ona loves horses, so she is holding a tiny colt, and sitting with some of her favorite dolls.

thanks Tatiana and Kathleen. I generally post details when it's done, but it's graphite on acid-free vellum trace.

Great, Mona! Is this a new portrait, or a part of Corin's portrait? Those toys you include make the artwork more fun. I can't wait to see the finished drawing.

Thanks Akiko. This is a detail from a separate drawing.

This is looking wonderful Mona and I agree with Akiko, that the props and dolls you include in your portraits make them all the more interesting, like an extension of the person you are drawing - can't wait to see more!!!

Mona, your pencil portraiture is truly outstanding. And the "Heaven on Earth" floribunda from a few blogs back is breath-taking. Kudos. And Happy Holidays.

You are on a roll with your portraits, and I can tell you are having so much fun with the graphite. They are all beautiful Mona! I especially like the pose that the one of your mom is in.

This is a lovely series of portrait drawings you've shown us recently. I assume that you work from photos; do you shoot them yourself, setting up the composition? or are they from snapshots by the subject's family?

Karen, James, Deb, and Altoon, thank you so much.

Thanks for your question too, Altoon. I'll answer it at more length in my next post, but yes, I do take my own photos.
