"Just Peachy"

1 5/8" x 1 1/8", egg tempera on Kelmscott vellum,
dailywork miniature, (revised in a later post on 10/8/08 & 10/15/08 )

I really enjoyed painting the highlights on the teal satin in this piece, especially since teal is a favorite color of mine!

If you are looking for a source very near you it looks like Talas online carries Kelmscott Vellum. I don't know how the price compares. I may even give it a try one of these days, as I was hoping to purchase a certain handmade paper that talas also carried. You are lucky to be near so many great suppliers... I've had such a stressful weekend trying to have dispersion shipped from Guerra for a reasonable price. The folks at USP can seem to agree it they are on the restricted list, and UPS would cost over a hundred dollars more to ship... oh well. hope to have something figured out soon.

all the best, jp.

Thanks JP, I'm aware of Talas, but probably should have clarified that I am just looking for a practical price locally, and that seems to be the elusive part. Talas carries only the entire calfskins, which start at about $260 for the smallest size and are approx. 6 ft. or longer. It is an issue of cost and storage space for me.

I recently bought one 5" x 7" Kelmscott sheet from Miniart Supply, another U.S.A. source, but it is about double the price of Polymers Plus per sheet.
